Saturday Linkstuff, Elections Edition
We are in the midst of an election right now here in beautiful British Columbia. As is always the case, this election is mostly up in the air between the free enterprisers/capitalists (BC Liberals) and socialists (NDP).
Election time is always interesting here in BC – I find that we usually end up voting someone OUT rather than voting someone in. What do I mean? Well, it seems people get so p*ssed with the current government, they just want a change regardless of who they vote in.
Some of the main issues we're facing:
- Homelessness – there are quite a few homeless people here in Vancouver, many who are mentally ill.
- Are the Liberals giving away some of our valuable resources – water, BC Rail …?
- Crime – it really is out of control, especially here in Vancouver
- The 2010 Olympics – will it be a success? What long term price are we going to pay?
Of course there are many more, but these are in the back of my mind right now.
Which way will I vote? Well, I definitely lean more towards the right, but I'll be weighing my options and making sure I vote for the person who will be the best for our province. I'll leave emotion out of it for sure.
Here are also a few great posts to weigh in on this week:

The Illusion of Credit Card Rewards Programs at ToughMoneyLove. Are you really saving money on that rewards card if you're spending more than you normally would?
You Tell Me: As Seen on TV at BeingFrugal – are those products on TV really any good?
50 Fun Facts About Debt at Bargaineering. There is nothing fun about debt but here are some interesting facts about it.
Credit Cards are Just a Tool at Free From Broke – What are your thoughts on credit cards?
Early Retirement or Meaningful Work? at Brip Blap – I've often thought about this. I want to retire early because I'm tired of what I'm doing now … but if you love what you do, retirement really isn't an issue …?
One of my posts is also featured at the Carnival of Finance over at Weakonomics.
That's it for this week!
If you live in BC, get out and vote!
